Carol Homrighouse is one of the smiling faces behind the tasting room bar on the weekends at Arrowood Winery. A native of San Francisco and all-around wine lover, Carol began working at Arrowood in June of 2017. She used to belong to wine tasting groups back in the 1970’s and always had a passion for discovering new wines. One of the most memorable wines of their meetings was an outstanding Johannesburg Riesling, and she also mentioned that was the night that her oldest son was born. Carol has two children, both boys, who were raised in Petaluma where she worked as a teacher.
From 1987 to 2013 Carol was the “teacher to be had” for life sciences at Kenilworth Middle School. If you asked students about her, they would say that her class was entertaining because of her funny jokes and that she even put on exams to make learning interesting and fun. When studying fermentation, her class was also known to make a mean root beer.
It is hard not to be a wine lover living in Northern California and Carol and her husband would frequent Napa and Sonoma Valleys to visit wineries for tastings and events. It was at one of these events that would lead her to work in the wine industry. After sparking up a conversation with someone from Siduri Winery in Santa Rosa, she was offered a position to occasionally work at wine club parties and events. This would eventually land her a part-time Tasting Room Associate position at Arrowood where she delights guests with warm customer service and friendly conversation about favorite wines and cooking. Look for Carol on your next visit!
