Acclaim
89 Points - The 2004 Syrah Le Beau Melange reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as tannin, chocolate, pepper, and spice characteristics. Le Beau Melange is tannic, firmer, and more masculine than the Saralee's Vineyard. It will benefit from another year of bottle age, and should keep for 6-10 years." - Robert Parker, Jr., Wine Advocate, December 2006
Tasting Notes
Like all great Syrahs, our 2004 Sonoma Valley is deeply colored and powerfully scented. The nose is an amalgamation of ripe blackberries, violets, earth, leather and white pepper. The palate is dense, but balanced and structured. The tannins are present, but well-integrated.
About The Wine
Over the past decade we have become firm believers in the benefits of organic farming. Not only is it gentler on the environment, but it leads to healthier vines and ultimately, more complex wines with greater depth and balance. Our 2004 Sonoma Valley Syrah combines fruit from two organically-farmed vineyards in Sonoma Valley.
Crane Vineyards is located outside of the town of Sonoma, a few miles north of the Carneros appellation. This is a cooler spot that accentuates the white pepper and exotic spice associated with the Syrah grape. While the wine from Crane is deep, dark and dense, it also has incredible structure and balance. Great aromatics!
Our estate vineyard is located at the winery in the heart of the Sonoma Valley. It is a slightly warmer location (not hot!) that produces Syrah possessing dark color, a commanding, fruit-driven bouquet and plenty of mouth-coating tannins.
