Winemaker's Notes
Our 2008 La Rose is one of our driest and most refreshing efforts to date. The color is young and brilliant. The nose and flavors are overflowing with strawberries, cranberries and blackberries. The palate is crisp, lively, brisk and dry. The wine's freshness, purity and zingy natural acidity make it a favorite for everyone at Arrowood.
At Arrowood, we take our Rosé seriously. Traditionally, our La Rose is produced using the Saigneé method where fresh juice is bled off of the skins of red grapes soon after crush. The resulting wine is lightly colored, packed with fruit, well-structured and drinkable at a young age. Our 2008 blends Rhône varieties from the Lasseter Vineyard in Sonoma Valley. These certified organic grapes were harvested early in the ripening cycle creating a wine that is extremely full-flavored yet low in alcohol.
Rosé is enjoying a renaissance. Sophisticated wine drinkers from coast to coast are realizing once again that it's okay to drink rosé. About time! To us, this unsung and underestimated beverage is perhaps the most thirst-quenching, versatile wine on earth. Delicious on its own, rosé also pairs beautifully with salmon, crab, chicken, oysters, clams, turkey, pork, salads, sushi and cheese. Good rosé can even hold its own against spicy ethnic fare and barbecued sausages and meats.
