Tasting Notes
This wine represents everything we look for in Sonoma Chardonnay. The bouquet is fresh, pure, and lightly toasty with touches of apple, peach, and baking spices. The palate is crisp and fresh with notable balanced acidity to keep the mouthfeel stimulating and lively. The finish is long lasting, textured and complete.
About the Wine
Versatility. It's one of the things that makes Sonoma County unique. Our climate ranges from very cold (Region 1) along the Pacific coastline to quite warm (Region 3) in some sites along the Mayacamas Mountain Range. That gives us an ability to produce great wines from every major and lesser-known grape. It often also allows us to produce a broad spectrum of styles from any single variety.
Chardonnay, for example, can exhibit wildly different flavor and textural traits depending on where it is grown in the county. Our Sonoma County bottling blends grapes from four individual vineyards to create a particularly complex, balanced, and harmonious wine. Three sites in the Russian River Valley - Alary, Hansen, and Preston vineyards- provide the bright, floral fruit components that define the aromatics of this wine. The Carneros site in Sonoma Valley, Alta Vista Vineyards, adds structure and body to the blend. Together, they make a complete wine that is greater than the sum of its parts.
