About The Wine

We believe that our finest wines are those that best reflect their terroir, or the vineyards in which they were grown. The grapes for this fresh, full-bodied wine were grown in the Alta Vista Vineyards located in the Sonoma-Los Carneros region. The region's distinctive cool climate allows for grapes to ripen slowly giving them more time to develop flavors. The region's cool climate also tends to produce Chardonnay grapes with higher acidity. The resulting wines are often a vibrant fruit experience with a crisp finish.

The fruit from Alta Vista Vineyards in 2008 was so outstanding that we hand-selected a few of the richest barrels to be bottled as a single vineyard designate. The Chardonnay was aged sur lie, which means the wine was in contact with the yeast lees during its fourteen month aging process in French oak barrels. This practice also encourages secondary malolactic fermentation, which imparts a more creamy and fleshy mouthfeel. To retain the maximum flavor complexity, the wine was left unfined and was not polish filtered prior to bottling.

Tasting Notes

This 2008 Chardonnay, Alta Vista Vineyards, has a beautiful golden straw color. On the nose, the wine offers up notes of ripe apples, toasty oak and vanilla. The palate is rich and velvety with lush tropical fruit flavors, hints of pear and bright acid notes that lead into the long and unhurried finish.
