Tasting Notes
Our 2003 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is compelling on so many levels. The nose is packed with ripe black fruits, cherries, tar
and a touch of cassis. On the palate the flavors are rich and commanding, elegant and graceful. The tannins are suave, polished
and ripe. In spite of its youth, this is an incredibly complex wine that reveals the essence of Sonoma County Cabernet.
About The Wine
While Sonoma County has been making some of California’s most coveted wines for more than a century, its reputation as one
of the state’s top Cabernet regions has really blossomed over the last two decades. That emergence has mirrored the viticultural
revolution that has taken place throughout the Golden State’s cooler, more coastally-influenced appellations allowing Sonoma’s
growers to take advantage of our more temperate and even climate.
Our 2003 Reserve is composed of fruit from the best hillside and mountain vineyards in the Sonoma and Dry Creek Valleys. As
with all of our vineyard sources, each of these sites is sustainably or organically farmed.
The 2003 growing season opened with a wet spring before settling into a consistently warm summer. The long hang time,
extended harvest and multiple vineyard sources gave Richard a wide assortment of lots to blend. The unusual growing conditions
resulted in small, intensely-flavored, blackberry-sized grapes.
