About The Wine
The historic Monte Rosso Vineyard is one of the oldest and most celebrated vineyards in Sonoma Valley. Set more than 1,000 feet above sea level at the southwestern end of the Mayacamas Mountain Range, Monte Rosso was first planted in the 1880s. It was purchased by Louis Martini in 1938 and continues to produce legendary fruit from its rugged slopes. Of the 575 acres, 231 are planted to vines. The vineyard takes its name from the red soils composed of loam, volcanic ash, and iron deposits. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is made from a small block of old vines planted in the 1950s, '60s, and '70s. The wine offers insight into the soils and climate of this legendary vineyard.Tasting Notes
The 2006 Monte Rosso Cabernet Sauvignon is beautifully dark red in color. The bouquet is highly aromatic, typical of this famous vineyard with notes of dried cherry, cassis, earth, and toast. The palate is complex with notes of black berry, and raspberry intermixed with ripe big tannins that lead into a lengthy soulful finish.Enjoy this wine on its own, or pair it with a range of menus.
