Winemaker's Notes
Intense citrus fruit and delicate blossom perfumes are classic characteristics of this complex, full-bodied varietal. We strive to craft our Viognier in this style to fully extract the grapes vibrant aromatics and delightfully fresh flavors. The 1999 vintage is shaping up to be one of the more lush Viogniers weve produced at Arrowood, while capturing all the youthful exuberance the grape exudes.
Vintage
Our 1999 Viognier will be remembered for the amount of honeysuckle and citrus in the nose and on the palate, and for how the delicate perfumes and intense fruit are balanced by a subtle acidity. Key aromatics include orange zest, marmalade, jasmine and ginger spice. The palate is filled with these delicious fruits, plus creamy vanilla and subtle spice notes and has a silky, almost viscous texture in the mouth.
Fermentation & Aging
The wine was aged in seasoned oak barrels in order to promote maturation without imparting significant oak qualities to the nose or palate. Following our non-interventional style, this Viognier was not fined prior to bottling. We recommend you enjoy it within a few years to fully enjoy its freshness, lively perfume and full, rich flavors.
