Our La Rose has never tasted better than the 2002 vintage! It is loaded with fresh fruit aromas just like a summer fruit bowl of everything from cranberries to strawberries to raspberries and melon.
The grapes in this ruby colored wine are all Rôhne style varieties grown in Saralee's Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. It has been our good fortune and great pleasure to work with growers Richard and Saralee Kunde, who share our enthusiasm for wine and our commitment to quality. Through their careful direction, this cool climate vineyard yields fruit of incredible flavor concentration and vibrant fruit character. Grenache Noir is the primary fruit in the blend and offers up lots of lush, juicy, lip-smacking fruit, while Syrah provides the framework. Mourvdre gives a profound fruit character and a splash of Viognier helps to bring out the wonderful fruit and honeysuckle aromas.
Produced using a winemaking technique called Saigne, which means to run off or "bleed" a certain amount of "free-run" juice from just crushed, dark-skinned grapes, this wine is meant to be enjoyed in its youth. It is a nice, lovely wine to drink; its fresha perfect spring and summer sipping wine. It is a frivolous wine not made frivolously! The 2002 La Rose will pair well with a wide array of food. Try it with burgers, chicken or vegetables from the grill, and don't forget to take a bottle on your next picnic!
