Chardonnay Sonoma County

Winemaker's Notes
The resultant wine is a perfect green and golden hue, with aromas of fresh Gravenstein apples, peaches, melon, and a hint of citrus in the background. On the palate, long, lucious flavors of melon, apple, peach and pear give way to a very fruity finish with nuances of fresh baked bread. This wine makes you want to taste it and taste it again! It is crisp, multi-layered and full of the complexity usually found in reserve Chardonnayimpeccably balanced. We feel it will develop and age for many years to come.
Vineyard
At Arrowood, we believe that vineyard selection is one of the most important tools in creating a classic Chardonnay. Our Arrowood 2001 Sonoma County Chardonnay is produced from fruit grown in the cool Russian River Valley and Sonoma-Los Carneros viticultural areas of Sonoma County. Maritime fog and winds, conditions that allow the fruit more time on the vine to reach the level of ripeness and maturity that we are looking for, influence both regions.
Fermentation & Aging
The juice was barrel fermented and the wine aged "sur lie" in new and seasoned French oak barrels for over nine months. Individual lots were then tasted, blended and bottled without sterile filtration to maintain the wines natural complexity.
Chef's Suggestions
Enjoy it on its own or serve it with a variety of fish or chicken dishes. Most pasta dishes will pair nicely with this Chardonnay, or try something different, like a Brie and mango quesadilla!
